All I kept wanting to sing as I saw Derek Lam’s little floral print patterns and gold dipped shoes trot down the runway was Simon and Garfunkel’s Mrs. Robinson. There was something so collegiate and sweet with a little bit of a vixen to his Fall Winter 2012 collection that if wardrobing the movie today, it would be no question as to why Dustin Hoffman’s Ben would end up with Elaine.
Lam’s girl was subdued but flirty, Lots of leather was in play (not surprising as this seems to be the biggest trend of Fall 2012 so far) but partnered up with over-sized tunics and collared shirts it looked less dom and more dorm. The chunky sweaters also had a hint of flirtation, whether it be because the sleeves were hacked off or because they were styled with long flowing maxi skirts.
