DDD: What is the best advice you have received as an illustrator?
AB: The best advice I received as an illustrator and a person actually came from Ayn Rand, (laughs). I know - her books and name have been tainted by the conservatives in our country today - but reading The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged actually changed my life. I can thank her and my parents for teaching me what it meant to work hard and believe in yourself. To believe in your value and the value of your life’s work - I think this is what drives me. I am constantly wondering about the purpose of life - and what we should be doing here on this earth. The only thing that has gotten me any closer to an answer (and I am still very far) - is my artwork. Art and love are the only things that make life worth living for me. So I’m not about to give up on either. (Part 5/5)
