@TarenGuy For all my mixed girls, black girls, and brown girls:
My hair has always driven me kind of crazy. Maybe it’s because I have ‘mixed girl hair’ (half Black, half Latina) I’ve never quite known what to do with it or how to maintain it. I didn’t know if I should keep straightening it, which of course involves a harsh chemical process. It’s not that expensive, but maintenance is.

(me with Straight Hair)
Going to the gym ruins your chemically processed hair faster then you can run on the treadmill and then of course there is the dreaded ‘breakage’ where you hair just starts breaking off at an alarming rate.

(my friend Teresa on the left, me on the right having just cut off all of my hair).
So, I wanted to have my hair go natural. I cut off all of my chemically processed hair almost four years ago and what you see above in the main picture is my naturally curly hair today.
Despite it’s lack of chemicals it was still dreadfully dry during the winter and I noticed what worked for some of my girlfriends, didn’t necessarily work for my hair. Then I read EBONY’S “17 Natural Hair Bloggers You Should Know!"
One of my personal favorite blogger’s in that article was Taren Guy. She has actually used and reviewed many of the products I had wanted to try. So many of these women have huge followings, which just goes to show women like me, were looking for women like these who would help us put our best face (and hair) forward. Check them out! xo Maya
